I’m Connor Oakes, and I’m a second-year studying neuroscience on the pre-med track at UVA. I’m from Great Falls, Virginia, and I’m involved in research on the genetics of aging through the Smith Lab, where I work with yeast models to study human homologous genes. Outside of academics, I am a member of Phi Delta Epsilon, the pre-medical fraternity, and I help lead CavsCARE, a student organization that provides free CPR certification to the UVA community. I became a peer teacher because I’m passionate about making science more approachable and want to help students feel confident and supported in their learning.
