Owen Wells

Hello! My name is Owen Wells and I am a 3rd year from Harrisonburg, Virginia graduating early this May. I am majoring in Biology and am planning to go to medical school after gaining some clinical experience for a gap year or two. At UVA, I am involved in the Virginia Affect and Interoception Lab, for which I fulfill multiple roles including experimenting, data cleaning, and admin. I am also a member of the University Salsa Club, where I have performed at Lighting of the Lawn, and various other events around Charlottesville like the Tom Tom Festival. In my free time, I enjoy staying active, playing social deduction games, and watching new movies. Introductory biology can feel like a daunting class, and I wanted to become a Peer Teacher to make students feel more confident in themselves and their study strategies. A good mentor can make the difference when it comes to succeeding in college-level Biology courses, and I wanted to be there for students the same way Peer Teachers were for me. It has been the best experience working with my students and lab TA this semester!
