My name is Dena and I’m a fourth year from Blacksburg, VA. I’m working towards a BS in biology and a minor in environmental science. Some of my favorite hobbies include fostering kittens, listening to true crime podcasts, and playing tennis. In the future, I plan on attending graduate school and attaining a PhD in genetics and genomics.

This is my third year Peer Teaching! I applied to be a Peer Teacher because UVA's intro bio classes were some of my favorite classes and I wanted to help students learn how to engage with biology. I think it’s important that my fellow peers gain the perspective that they are scientists experimenting in a lab, and I hope that my efforts as a Peer Teacher are helping them realize this!
