Maddy Byars
Hi! My name is Maddy Byars and I am currently a 4th year from Suffolk, Virginia. I am majoring in biology and minoring in psychology with plans to apply to medical school after graduation. I hope to either become a pediatrician or an OB-GYN. I am a member of the Virginia Affect and Intersection lab here at UVA where we study the physiological and psychological pathways by which interception contributes to affect and behavior. I am also a proud member of HooThon and work for UVA Recreation! In my free time, I enjoy reading, working out, trying new restaurants and coffee shops, and spending time with my friends, family, pugs, and cats. I wanted to become a peer teacher to have the opportunity to help students learn and provide advice as they transition college-level Biology courses. After having to revise my own study strategies, I wanted to share what I learned with others. I have truly enjoyed working with my TA and students this semester and being actively involved in the Biology community at UVA.
