With the MIRA-ESI from NIGMS, Dr. Tracy Larson’s lab will work to understand how growth and patterning are limited, and conversely, how tissues degenerate in a controlled fashion using a model of natural, cyclical and highly stereotyped re-growth and degeneration of the neural circuit controlling singing behavior in a seasonally breeding songbird, the white-crowned sparrow.
