Finding the way home - spatial control of membrane traffic in neurons and epithelia

Cellular physiology and functions depend on the proper localization of membrane organelles and proteins, which are transported along an intricate meshwork of microtubule and actin polymers. This talk explores the navigation mechanisms that ensure spatiotemporal accuracy and efficiency in the trafficking and positioning of membrane organelles and vesicles in neuronal and epithelial cells. The presentation will focus on the function of microtubule-associated septins, a poorly understood family of multimeric GTPases.

Seminar Host: Ariel Pani, PhD
