Prof. JC Cang was invited by the UVA premedical chapter of Phi Delta Epsilon to the "Pie a Professor" event on April 7. The week of April 2-8 is Children’s Hospitals Week, a philanthropy week for PhiDE to raise donations and awareness for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, and specifically benefit UVA Children’s Hospital.

Marta Grannonico, a postdoctoral fellow in the Liu lab, received the Career Starter grant award from the Knights Templar Eye Foundation. The Foundation is committed to support research that can help launch the careers of clinical and basic researchers focused on the prevention and cure of potentially blinding diseases in infants and children.

The event involved the participation of over 20 undergraduate students who prepared presentations on brains and neurons and organized hands-on sheep brain dissections.

Undergraduate and graduate students will have the opportunity to present their work in one of two poster sessions that run from 10:00 – 12:00 and 2:00 – 4:00. Post-doctoral fellows will have the opportunity to present 15 minute talks from 12:00 – 1:00.
