Congratulations to the recipients of the 38th Annual Richard D. Katz Undergraduate Research Symposium awards. The Katz Symposium was held May 4th and gave the Biology Distinguished Major candidates the opportunity to present their thesis research findings.

Left to right, the awardees are:

1st Place – Bridgett Bucci: “Drivers of Rhodopsin 6 Neural Plasticity in Drosophila Development”. Research Mentor: Dr. Barry Condron, Department of Biology.

2nd Place – Zita Venetianer: “Developing Deep Learning-Based Algorithm for Quantitation of Atherosclerotic Lesions in Mice”. Research Mentor: Dr. Weibin Shi, Department of Radiology & Medical Imaging, Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Genetics.

3rd Place – Mariann Kazakis: “The Immune System of the Brain: The role of Immune Cells in the Central Nervous System”. Research Mentor: Dr. Barry Condron, Department of Biology.
