Virginia iGEM Wins International Competition

Congratulations to UVA’s 2018 iGEM team for winning Genscript Inc.’s annual concept paper competition!  Over 100 iGEM teams from almost 30 countries participated in the competition for $2000 in free Genscript products and services as well as $2000 in research funding.  iGEM is an annual research contest in synthetic biology held in Boston every fall.  This year over 5000 students from 340 institutions are expected to attend.  This is the 12th consecutive year UVA has fielded a team of undergraduates from the College of Arts & Sciences and from the School of Engineering & Applied Sciences.
