Congratulations to the Winners of the 42nd Annual Richard D. Katz Undergraduate Biology Symposium

On April 29, 2026, three research presentations in the 42nd Annual Richard D. Katz Undergraduate Biology Symposium were selected for special recognition by the Biology faculty, from among 18 oral presentations made by students in the Department of Biology’s Distinguished Majors Program.  From left to right in the photo, taking First Place was Lilah Elhady  (Are cytoplasmic factors responsible for male sterility in Campanula americana?; Galloway Lab).   Second Place was won by Madeline Livingston  (Genetic diversity of the meiotic recombination protein PRDM9 in rattlesnakes ; Schield Lab), with Margaret Berberian taking Third Place (Perturbing IL-15-mediated self-renewal of human memory CD8+ cells; Luckey Lab).   The DMP was co-directed by Profs. Douglas Taylor (Fall) and Barry Condron (Spring).  The Katz Symposium, a department of Biology tradition for showcasing undergraduate research, and awards are generously endowed by Biology alumnus Richard D. Katz ‘79.
