Mountain Lake Biological Station

The Biology Department’s field station MLBS offers the full range of scientific, instructional, logistical, residential, and communications support expected at a modern biological field station.  Research focuses on field-based ecology, evolution, behavior and physiology.  Faculty and students in the Ecology and Evolution group use MLBS extensively.  Located off-Grounds in Giles County Virginia (a three hour drive from Charlottesville), MLBS supports research programs from around the world, UVA Summer Session Courses, summer student internships (NSF REU-Site program), and a variety of other local and regional programs.  UVA faculty and students spend exciting summers at the Station every year.  Explore opportunities at MLBS.org.
