Amanda Cohen

I’m a fourth year biology major and German minor planning to pursue a career in medicine after taking a gap year for biomedical research. In retrospect, my introductory biology class turned out to be critically important for my time at UVA. I was not initially planning on majoring in biology, but was inspired to change my course of study and enter into microbiology research after being introduced to the biology department my second year. I hope to be able to give someone else those same great first experiences with the UVA biology department that I have had, and maybe even help a fellow student appreciate their heretofore unrecognized love for biology! Apart from peer teaching and research, I have enjoyed working with United2Heal at UVA, Adopt-a-Grandparent, and The German Society.
