The Department of Biology extends a warm welcome to Dr. Amanda Gibson, who will be coming on board as an Assistant Professor in Biology. She is currently a FIRST Fellow at Emory University, completing a postdoctoral position where she studies the evolution and ecology of infectious diseases. Recently, she was awarded the John Maynard Smith Prize from the European Society for Evolutionary Biology, a high honor that recognizes an “outstanding young evolutionary Biologist.”
Although she won’t begin until January of 2019, Dr. Gibson will be conducting research at Mountain Lake Biological Station (MLBS) during the summers of 2017 and 2018. You can learn more about Dr. Gibson’s research and publications by visiting her webpage.
