Graduate Student Yingnan Gao Awarded Presidential Fellowship in Data Science

Congratulations to Yingnan Gao, a graduate student in Dr. Martin Wu’s lab, who has been honored with a Presidential Fellowship in Data Science.  This fellowship, made possible by UVA’s Data Science Institute, with support from the Office of the President and the Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs, is to recognize students that “undertake collaborate research projects that leverage large data sets to advance knowledge in areas of high social impact.”  Gao’s proposal, “Modeling Microbial Stability via Semiparametric High Dimensional Graphical Models, was selected as one of the 2017 – 2018 awardees.
