Austin Keeler Receives NIH Postdoctoral Fellowship

June 28, 2017

Congratulations to Austin Keeler and Chris Deppmann!  Austin Keeler has been awarded an NIH Postdoctoral Fellowship from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, entitled "The role of TrkA positive extracellular vesicles in sympathetic neuron survival and maturation". Regulation of cell survival and death is critical for the proper development and function of neural circuits.  Austin's project will work to elucidate the role of extracellular vesicles (nanoscale intercellular signals) produced by sympathetic neurons on cell survival and maturation. This is an important question in neurobiology with implications for understanding the general patterns required for the formation of the peripheral nervous system. The Fellowship will provide a total of $118, 691.00 over the course of three years.
